Where do you say

Many linguistic resources contain geographic information, for example the location of recording or the birthplace of a speaker. These bits of information are of interest to the researchers from linguistics looking at regions in which an expression is used frequently.

Using the components of the CLARIN infrastructure, the geographic information can be used, even independent from the CLARIN centre where they are stored. Resources accessible for certain tools can be visualized in various ways.

The tool Wo sagt man (German for "where do you say") uses the external data from the database of spoken German (Datenbank für Gesprochenes Deutsch, (DGD) and highlights the areas in which an expression is being used. It shows the area on a map where something was recorded. The darker the field, the more often the expression was used.
